Is Flying For Everyone?

As we at the beginning of a new year again a lot of people will want to do their private pilot license. Obviously there are many reasons for wanting to fly varying from achieving a long term goal, a life long dream, the start of a new career or maybe simply to be able to say:"I can fly". Whatever the reasons are I often get asked by a new student "do you think I'll be able to fly".

Maybe firstly we must ask ourselves what does it take from an individual in order to fly an airplane or helicopter for that matter? A certain amount of co-ordination comes to mind. In my opinion most people has what it takes although some has to practice and exercise this particular skill. Discipline I think plays an important roll as flying involves quite a bit of responsibility in some way or the other. My personal favorite is of course a person's attitude. The willingness to study, the way an individual handles criticism and the ability to handle stress but to name a few. These are just some qualities amongst hundreds.

I think every student should and can answer the question: "will I be able to fly?" for themselves. For some it might take longer than the minimum requirement but determination and will pull them through. Many a time students has told me that flying is not for them and I take my hat off to a person that can realize their own lack of ability or whatever reason they base their decision on. Your personal motive for wanting to fly plays a very important roll. So I personally think that it's not a simple black and white answer to be made by an instructor but rather a combined decision.

I think that in the beginning students base their abilities solely on the "stick and throttle" aspects of flying, rightly so because that's all they know but I often tell students that a good stick and throttle pilot is not necessarily the best pilot and that they must consider their other strengths as well when they make a decision whether to continue flying or not. In a lot of cases all it takes is a bit of a mindset change.

I personally think that almost any person can be taught to fly but I think the real question should be whether any person can be a safe pilot not necessarily the world's greatest pilot, and that's maybe where the instructor or flight school for that matter plays a very important role.

If ever you face the decision to quite flying or not maybe think what is your motive for flying, ask yourself whether you enjoy it or not, can you financially afford it to carry on longer if need be, do you need to change your attitude?

Conventional Flights Vs. Space Flights

During the hard times of the credit crunch the flight industry is being hit harder than most other businesses, many airlines are losing a lot of custom and many airlines have actually gone bust. However, as many airlines are failing there is one that is still reaching for the stars – quite literally. This week saw the launch of the first Virgin Galactic flight that takes its passengers into a sub-orbit flight around the earth.

The Virgin Galactic flight takes its passengers to the edge of space to experience the absolutely outstanding views of the earth and also gives them a chance to experience the weightless feeling that real astronauts get while in space. The passengers are taken to the edge of space by a rocket powered ship which is taxied by a mother-ship called the White-Knight-Two. The edge of space flight will only be responsible for the same amount of CO2 emissions that come with a New York to London flight.

The Virgin flights have attracted a lot of publicity already and have taken nearly 250 advanced bookings with tickets costing approximately $200,000 per seat. With the popularity of the flights growing so fast, Virgin have called for five more Virgin Galactic White-Knight-Two aircrafts to be constructed in the next two years and are hoping to start a trend with edge of space travel.

With space travel starting to become more available there are alleged plans for a spaceport to be built in America also. This will be one of the main places the space aircrafts will take off and land. So far the new flights have met nothing but positive comments.

Reasons to Travel the World

Everyone dreams of traveling but most people don't do it. Fear keeps most people from traveling. When I first went away in 2006, people always wished they could do what I was doing. For some people it is easy to just jump ship and travel. We have it in us all along and we just need a gentle nudge. For me, all it took was a trip to Thailand and jealousy before I was quitting my job and telling my friends I was going to travel. For others it is a lot harder. They are more tied down, more afraid, more uncertain. They want to do it but, instead the nudge I needed, they need a full on push.

If you are looking for reason, here are eight good reasons to travel around the world:

There's a recession. With the world economy in a tailspin and companies slashing jobs, there is a lot of economic uncertainty in the world. Avoid it all. Go travel. If you quit your job, sell your stuff and travel, you won't have to worry about it. In fact, prices are dropping as the tourist industry tries harder to get people to go overseas. Come back when the economy is better. Let others worry while you go out and have fun.

You meet a lot of people. There is not a day that doesn't go by where you don't meet people from all over the world doing the same thing you are. You'll meet locals who will take you around and open their homes and city to you. What more can you ask for in life than meeting wonderful people and creating a network of friends that encompasses the globe.

It's better than working. Working is work. Sitting behind a desk for eight hours, commuting to work, worrying about bosses and reports is not our idea of a good time. Let's face it, between worrying about next month's budget or sitting on a beach in Asia, everyone would choose the beach. So why are you behind your desk?

It's not as expensive as you think. Everyone thinks that traveling is expensive but it's not. You can travel quiet cheaply by flying low cost airlines, staying in hostels, or with locals who offer your home. Live like the locals and avoid the big resorts, hotels, take local transport, and eat a local restaurants and you will find you will save a lot of money.

You learn about other cultures. The world is a big place and globalization has made it much more complex and interconnected. You'll never begin to understand all the other players in the world or why people do what they do by sitting at home. Traveling will teach you about other cultures and people and make them more than just a face on the news.

You learn about yourself. Travel helps you figure out what makes you you and what you really like or dislike. Forced to fend for yourself, it is do or die. You have to adapt to your surroundings, meet other people, make your own decisions, and plan your life.

You'll make everyone jealous. Let's face it- everyone wants to travel the world but few people do. Do it and make everyone at home jealous of you, your stories, and your photos. While they work all day, you explore the world.

Because, like Yoda said, do or do not. Why spend your life thinking about what might be when you can just do it. It's not that hard to travel you just have to have the will to do it. Don't live life with regrets- get up and get going. NO ONE ever regrets a trip like this. NO ONE.

Traveling around the world is a life changing experience. There's no reason not to go. There is no big secret on why to go. Just go. Even if it's for a week, or a month, or a year. See the world. You only get one chance. Make it worthwhile.

Festivals of Japan

If you're looking to take a holiday in Asia, Japan is an excellent choice. It's a land of many contrasts with ultra modern lifestyles juxtaposed against ancient traditions, and rural communities set against sprawling metropolises. A single holiday in Japan can take in many conflicting aspects of life in the country.

If you're looking to absorb the culture, or simply to find some outstanding entertainment for your stay, you could do a lot worse than timing your visit to coincide with one of the many popular festivals that the country is host to. Here are some of the more memorable ones:

Sapporo Snow Festival

The Sapporo Snow Festival will be entering its 60th year in February 2009, and you can expect the event to have an extra special feel to go along with its landmark year. The festival, based in Sapporo - the capital of Hokkaido - takes place over a week and includes the construction of hundreds of snow statues and ice sculptures throughout the town. Each year you can expect around 400 immaculately sculpted ice structures displaying everything from instantly recognisable landmarks to famous celebrities. If you're planning a winter holiday in Japan, then it's well worth joining the 2,000,000 people expected to attend this legendary festival.

Nagasaki Kunchi Festival

If you're taking your holiday in Japan in Autumn, the Nagasaki Kunchi festival is a must. Started in the 16th century to celebrate the harvests, the festival has now grown to become one of the most popular in Japan. Visitors to the country will be able to see traditional dancing, huge floats decorated like river barges or Chinese boats and the legendary 'dragon dance'. To give you an idea over how well planned the whole thing is, preparations for the annual festival begin as early as June 1st.

Kyoto Gion Matsuri Festival

The Gion Festival is another famous one, this time held annually in Kyoto. Unlike the previous entries, this one is on for the entire month of July, but the legendary parade (Yamaboko Junko) is worth being there for on the 17th. Those wanting to get an insight into how Kyoto residents live will also want to visit at this time, as the customary Byobo Matsuri (folding screen festival) means that many residents will open their homes for others to visit. An unparalleled opportunity to get off the tourist trail and see how people live on your holiday in Asia.

Nebuta Matsuri Festival

The largest festival in the Tohoku region is the most popular 'nebuta' event in the country with tourists, and that should be enough to convince you to visit on your holiday in Asia. Nebuta festivals involve the float of brave warrior figures carried around the city, accompanied by dancers moving in time to the famous Rassera chant. It has an atmosphere like no other, and is definitely worth seeing.

Sanja Matsuri Festival

Although Sanja Matsuri is celebrated nationwide, Tokyo is without doubt the place to be for it. The main festivities take place at the Sensoji Shrine on the third weekend of May and some 2 million people come to enjoy the huge parades, traditional music and dancing. Those who dislike crowds need not apply, but it is an unusual experience that everyone with an interest in Japanese culture should try.

Takayama Matsuri Festival

One of Japan's most popular festivals, the Takayma Matsuri festivities take place both in Spring and Autumn. Both festivals welcome the changing seasons and involve colourful floats moving through the Takayama streets and huge crowds. The Autumn version is on the 9th and 10th October, while the Spring version is held on April 14th-15th. Accommodation can be hard to come by, but tourists looking to see it should be able to find something in the neighbouring towns of Furukawa and Gero Onsen.

Fuji Rock Festival

It may not be a traditional cultural experience like the others, but if your idea of a good music festival is a muddy field in England, Fuji Rock may just change your expectations completely. Hosted at the Naeba Ski Resort (it was moved from Fuji in 1997, but retained the name), it is the cleanest mainstream music festival you'll likely ever see. Alongside quality food and drink, the acts are impressive too - past years have attracted the like of The Cure, The Chemical Brothers, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beck and The Foo Fighters.

Whether you're interested in music, arts or just absorbing the country's history and culture, there is a Japanese festival for you. By timing your luxury holiday

in Japan to coincide with one of these festivals, you're guaranteeing yourself memories that will last a lifetime.

Provide More Than Transportation

f, as part of your work, you travel for much of the year, then you know what can make or break your ideal flight

scenario. Perhaps it is the great deal of time you have to spend waiting when you catch a commercial airline flight. That is time you will not be able to get back, and if your time is worth a great deal of money, commercial flights may simply not be cost effective for your or your company. Instead, why not consider the benefits that come with chartering a private jet? You will see that air charters can provide you with more than just simply transportation.

You can save time when you rent a jet. One phone call is all it takes to have a personal concierge handle all of the details involved with your flight, including before flight, in flight, and deboarding requirements. This will free you up to focus on what is most important, namely, your work. Also, you will have access to over 5,000 airports worldwide when you use a chartered flight, so that you will have a direct trip with fewer transfers to contend with in order to arrive at your destination than you would on a commercial flight, thereby saving you both time and money.

Another distinct benefit unavailable to commercial flight passengers is that you may choose who will fly with you when you charter a plane. You can use the in-flight time to have a private meeting with important staff or clients, or you can hold a larger meeting with several key players. This availability on a private plane is an impossibility on a commercial one, and it can also help you use your time in a more cost-effective manner.

When you make a charter flight, all of the details are met concerning your particular tastes and needs. Any sort of five-star cuisine can be yours at your request, and any dietary considerations can be stylishly met. If you require special services while in flight, perhaps the aid of a secretary, a lawyer or accountant, or a computer technician, all of these services are at your disposal when you choose a jet rental. You can also enjoy the comfort of a massage, or the assistance from a nanny or a personal hair dresser, to name only a few of the elite services we offer to make sure that you are comfortable as you fly and that all of your business and pleasure needs are handled with the care and attention to detail that you deserve and expect.
